I found this pattern, called Open Cross, in the Loop Group section, on the Friendly Loom site. (You can join the Loop Group for free.) I altered the pattern a bit by making the middle of the potholder a solid color, instead of alternating colors for both warp (vertical) and weft (horizontal).
